This print depicts beautiful plum blossoms behind the Kameido Tenjin Shrine in Edo (present-day Tokyo). As compared to the people in the background, the plum tree portrayed in the foreground is extremely big. This kind of enlarged close-up in depictions of scenery was characteristic of the artist Hiroshige (1797–1858).
