Plum Garden in Kameido from the Series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo 名所江戸百景・亀戸梅屋舗めいしょえどひゃっけい かめいどうめやしき

Description

This print depicts beautiful plum blossoms behind the Kameido Tenjin Shrine in Edo (present-day Tokyo). As compared to the people in the background, the plum tree portrayed in the foreground is extremely big. This kind of enlarged close-up in depictions of scenery was characteristic of the artist Hiroshige (1797–1858).
