Description
Through comparison with Scenes from the Tale of Genji with Poetry painted by Tosa Kyûyoku Mitsuyoshi (1539-1613), which is in the Kyoto National Museum's collection, it has been concluded that this work was also painted by Mitsuyoshi. Paintings on The Tale of Genji (J., Genji monogatari) were made in large numbers by artists of the Tosa school after the Muromachi period (1392-1573). This is a valuable large-scale folding screen of the Tosa school from the end of the Momoyama period (1573-1615).
