Description
A young woman holding a lantern stands in front of a shrine on a rainy night. This print in fact alludes to a noh play called [Aridōshi], in which a man stops at a shrine's entrance on a rainy night after his horse collapses. People of the Edo period (1603–1868) enjoyed identifying such allusions to the classics portrayed in contemporary [ukiyo-e].
