The Taoist Immortals Hama and Tieguai 蝦蟇鉄拐図屏風がまてっかいずびょうぶ

Description

These legendary Chinese figures achieved immortality through their mastery of Taoism. On the right, Tieguai projects his soul into the air. On the left, Hama uses magic to control a three-legged frog. With brash and vigorous brushstrokes, Shōhaku (1730–1781) highlights the otherworldliness of these two eccentric figures.
