Description
Depicted here is a Chinese beauty leaning against a pine tree. Reading a scroll, she forms a slight, enigmatic smile with her mouth. Her faint-red lips, long eyelashes, and loosely tied hair are all rendered in fine detail. The artist Rosetsu (1754–1799) was a disciple of the famous painter Maruyama Ōkyo (1733–1795), whose work is also on display.
