右幅は雛遊びに熱中する紫の上と源氏の姿を描く第7帖〈紅葉賀【もみじのが】〉。左幅は源氏が造営した六条院で、秋の対に住む秋好中宮【あきこのむちゅうぐう】が、庭先の色とりどりの紅葉を女童【めのわらわ】に持たせ、春の対に住む紫の上に贈る場面を描く第21帖〈乙女（少女）〉。住吉家と板谷家の共作。
