立命館大学に設置された日本刀鍛錬所
にて製作された刀の一つ。この鍛錬所の所
長は、桜井正次の子・正幸であった。本品を
はじめ多くの刀剣を当館に寄贈した浅田
幸一氏は同大学出身で、氏の本品に対する
思い入れは一ひと入しおであった。作者である義一
とは日本刀鍛錬所所員の河合義一のこと
だが、彼に関する詳細は分かっていない。
