Description
Nagoya Castle was the residence of the Owari branch of the Tokugawa family, which ruled Japan as shoguns. Samurai lords from western Japan, who had lost a war to the Tokugawa, were forced to take responsibility for the castle’s construction, which began in 1610. The keep of the castle is visible over the moat.
