Patterned Silk Ban, Fragment 刺繍三昧耶幡 附 錦幡ししゅうさまやばん つけたり きんばん

Description

{i=>[vajra], content=>[These are banners of silk brocade. At first, they do not look particularly Buddhist; on closer inspection, however, the pattern woven into the brocade itself features abstracted three-pronged , pestles and wish-fulfilling jewels. The banners have not survived to the present day in their entirety: originally, they had flaps hanging down from either side and from their bases. They come from Hyōzu Taisha Shrine in Shiga.]}
