「如意」はもともと背中を掻く道具で、かゆいところに届くので「意@い＠の如＠ごと＠く」という名称でしたが、その名称が「願いがかなう」という吉祥的な意味に転じて、実用性を離れた鑑賞品が作られるようになりました。本器は七宝で、赤龍、鳳凰、虎、蝙蝠の文様が表わされています。
