The whole piece is decorated in Nahiji lacquer with a design of pine and camellia. The design is arranged on both sides of the lid and on four sides of the body in gold Maki'e, cut gold leaf, and mother-of-pearl inlay. The design spreads over the two hanging boxes within this box. The gold and silver fittings also have a camellia tree design.
A mirror, a silver casket, silver cosmetics cases, silver eyebrow brushes, silver scissors and tweezers, and silver dishes are kipt in this box; every item has pine and camellia design in gilt intaglio.
