「明治十一年五月撮影 久保田彦作 三十二年一ヶ月」と裏書にある。久保田彦作は黙阿弥の門下で竹柴彦作を名乗った歌舞伎作者。この写真と同年には錦栄堂より戯作『鳥追阿松海上新話』を出版している。
