木版・銅版12点22枚から構成されています。主体は10枚の銅版画で、それぞれに木版の解説文が付属しています。その多くは太陽系の諸天体の運行などに関するものですが、中にはアリなどの虫類を描いた唐突な画題のものも含まれています。個々の図版の制作年そのものは検討の余地があるとはいえ、これをひとまとめに刊行する段階で、司馬江漢はそれなりのコンセプトをもって臨んだと思われます。江漢がこだわっていた、独特な水火二元論と啓蒙意識が入り交じった宇宙観を図式化しようという試みと言えます。 【江戸の絵画】【江戸の洋楽】
