Description
ルンフィウス（1628-1702）は、オランダの博物学者です。1652年に東インド会社に入り、翌年アンボイナ島（現インドネシア）に赴任し、４９年間駐在して植物や海産動物を調査しました。江戸時代に「紅毛貝譜」訳された本書は、平賀源内の蔵書に含まれており、蒹葭堂は本書の貝類の一部を模写し、収集した貝の分類にあたって参考にするなどしていました。また、浮世絵師歌川豊春は扉絵の図様を転用して「浮絵アルマニア珍薬物集之図」を描きました。 【江戸時代の洋学】
