The Miura family was a wealthy merchant in Yamagata, a castle town that prospered in the Mogami River during the Edo period. He graduated from Tokyo Higher Commercial School (currently Hitotsubashi University) and devoted himself to the study of civilization history while working as a teacher at his alma mater. As the chairman, he leaded the regional research in Yamagata. The ancient documents collected by him as part of his research and the activities of the \"Yamagata Kyodo Kenkyukai\" have been deposited at the Yamagata University Museum as \"Miura Bunko Monjo\" and are still widely used in his research.\n\nIn 2021 (Reiwa 3), in addition to the \"Miura Bunko Monjo\", 2119 postcards that Shinshichi received while studying in Germany from 1903 (Meiji 36) were deposited by his great-grandson Shinichiro Miura. Postcards are valuable to convey the itinerary and wide-ranging exchanges of youth before Shinshichi became a businessman and historian, as well as to convey the European world in the 1900s.
